Lent is a 40-day period on the church calendar leading to Easter that is based on Jesus’ time in the wilderness, which fulfills the Israelites 40 years in the desert. Unchained will follow the wilderness period of the Israelites as they learn how to walk with God as His covenant people. While this journey could have taken them a couple of weeks, God led them for 40 years. This time served as a way of preparing the Israelites to live in the Promised Land, so that other nations would know the goodness of their God. They needed to be trained how to live into their newfound freedom. 

The Israelites are like someone who gets a severe injury and needs to be trained to walk again. Similarly, we need to be rehabilitated from the habits and mindsets of slavery in order to learn how to be a people who follow God’s presence. We must learn a new way of following God’s presence to live into the freedom He offers.

You can grow in your spiritual life over the next six weeks by engaging in three ways: 

• Spend time with God daily using this resource.
