On December 1, 2024, Crossroads changed its name to The Table. This name sums up our faith and disciple-making strategy in one word. In Scripture, name change signifies increased faith, purpose, and mission (Genesis 17:5, 32:28, Matthew 16:18). Every time we say our name, we will be reminding ourselves of where the action happens. Great things happen around tables!
In Jesus, we are invited to God’s Table. He gained a reputation as a “friend of sinners” as he shared meals with the lost (Matthew 9:9-13, 11:19). For over 2,000 years, the Lord’s Supper has been where Jesus invites His church to encounter His living presence and to become His Body to the world. This points forward to the renewed heaven and earth, where those who belong to Jesus will feast with Him at a great banquet celebrating the union of Christ with the Church (Rev. 19:9).
Our Life Groups will now be called Tables, which are designed for anyone to grow in faith no matter where they are on their spiritual journey. Throughout its 33-year history, Crossroads has been a church that put relational discipleship at the center of ministry. We remain committed to reaching the Greater Pittsburgh and Ohio Valley region through holistic groups where we live, work, learn and play. While our mission and message remains the same, our methods to spread the Good News of Jesus will be sharpened to meet the challenges of making disciples in a disconnected culture.
As the family of God on the mission of God, we will gather on Sundays at the table of Jesus to celebrate what God has done and to make space to hear from the Holy Spirit. Then, we will scatter into our community at Tables, inviting anyone who will come to discover what God is saying to us through the Bible.
We invite you to join a Table or worship with us on Sundays. God has a seat for you at His Table!

Mission:
To change the world by making disciples who make disciples.
Vision:
Start 10,000 Tables in 10 Years.
Values:
- Spirit Dependent
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. (Acts 1:8)
- Relentless Invitation
Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full. (Luke 14:23)
- Transformational Discovery
As they sat down to eat, he took the bread and blessed it. Then he broke it and gave it to them. Suddenly, their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. (Luke 22:30-31)
- Costly Obedience
And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple. (Luke 14:27)
Questions and Answers
What is a Table (group)?
In short, it’s gathering with others for simple food and a Discovery Bible Study. The group meets for a maximum of one year, with the goal of multiplying new leaders after that year.
Who is a Table for?
We like to say that Tables are for the 3 L’s:
- The Lost
- The Lukewarm
- The Long-time Christian
Essentially, anyone who is open to spiritual conversation centered around the Bible. You do not have to be a follower of Jesus to join a Table group- in fact, Tables are at their best with people present who are at various points on their spiritual journey. Groups can start with an initial 6 week commitment for participants before deciding if they’d like to continue.
Where do Tables meet?
In the places where we live, work, learn and play. It can be a house or apartment, a cafeteria table or coffee house, a diner or workplace break room. Jesus will meet us wherever we are.
What are worship services like?
Everyone is welcome! When you come to The Table Church, you’ll be greeted by a team of people who will help you find where to go. If you have questions, just ask, or stop by the Welcome Center in the lobby.
If you’re wondering about what to wear, come as you are, but people generally dress more casually.
The Table Church worship services are about one hour in length. They generally include times of singing (led by a band), prayer, Communion (which is open to all who seek God), and a hope-filled message from the Bible. We also offer prayer for personal needs following every service.
Can I participate in the Lord’s Supper (Communion) if I’m not a member?
Yes. Membership is not required to participate in Communion. All that’s needed is a desire to draw near to Jesus.
What will be different?
Our church has always operated with 2 wings of ministry- cell (groups) and celebration (worship services). When you fly, both wings are vital! As The Table Church, we will still operate in the same way.
We will continue to view our worship gatherings as a gathering of our smaller expression- Tables. The primary difference will be that we will participate in the Lord’s Supper weekly as opposed to our former practice of once a month.
As described earlier, Tables (groups) will make simple food a staple at the beginning of each meeting. Tables can utilize the weekly group guides for scripture discussion or do a Discovery Bible Study of another Bible passage. Multiplication dates will not exceed one year from the group starting as a way to encourage a movement mindset, preventing Tables from becoming inward focused to the detriment of reaching newcomers.
How will this affect the preschool?
For over 25 years, Crossroads Church has provided Christ-centered early childhood education. Our mission to reach children in our community has not changed, and the preschool will continue to be known as Crossroads Preschool.
