Gathering with a Table for a Bible discussion? Pick a passage or story from scripture and go through the Discovery Bible Study guide below.
Table Talk (⅓ of meeting)
- If you had to describe your past week using a Thanksgiving food, what would it be?
- How are your rhythms of meeting with God (in Scripture, prayer, worship, etc.)? What has God been speaking to you through those times? OR how would you like to grow in this area?
- How can we pray for you? After each person shares, have someone else lift up a simple, honest prayer. (Give space for everyone by keeping sharing and prayers brief.)
Discussion Guidelines
- Everyone shares in sentences, not paragraphs.
- Focus only on what this passage is saying. (This keeps everyone on the same page)
- Share from your perspective – we won’t argue or give advice.
- Give everyone time to respond. Silence is OK.
- The facilitator will facilitate discussion, not teach.
Discover (1/3 of meeting)
Read the passage. (Suggested: Luke 17:11-19)
- Have someone reshare this in their own words.
- What stands out to you?
- What does this Scripture say about God?
- What does this Scripture say about people?
Go Do It (1/3 of meeting)
- According to this study, what are you doing well? What do you need to change?
- How can you specifically live out this passage in the next few days? (Everyone creates an “I will” statement.)
- Who are you going to tell about what you discovered?
- Who can you invite to our Table? Pray for them.
