Signs of Life
5. Can't Hardly Wait
Friendsgiving! Thanksgiving kicks off a season that brings some of the best missional opportunities. Whether it’s a party or serving event, spend time in prayer with your Table about how God is calling you to share the love of Jesus with those in your context. Check out our Friendsgiving guide as a resource on how to throw a good party. table.org/friendsgiving
Table Talk (⅓ of meeting)
- What Thanksgiving dish do you avoid?
- What’s a highlight and/or challenge from your week?
- How are your rhythms of meeting with God (in Scripture, prayer, worship, etc.)? What has God been speaking to you through those times? OR how would you like to grow in this area?
- How can we pray for you? After each person shares, have someone else lift up a simple, honest prayer. (Give space for everyone by keeping sharing and prayers brief.)
Discussion Guidelines
- Everyone shares in sentences, not paragraphs.
- Focus only on what this passage is saying. (This keeps everyone on the same page)
- Share from your perspective – we won’t argue or give advice.
- Give everyone time to respond. Silence is OK.
- The facilitator will facilitate discussion, not teach.
Discover what God is saying to you. (⅓ of meeting)
Big Idea: Faithful patience isn’t passive.
Read James 5:7-11
- What verse stands out to you and why?
- According to James, list the ways a disciple waits faithfully.
- Are you more likely to wait on God or take matters into your own hands?
- Why do you think God expects us to be patient?
- Share a time when you had to wait on God. What did you learn?
- Based on the farmer/harvest analogy, what are some kingdom-building actions we can take while we wait for the Lord to return?
Go do it. (⅓ of meeting)
- What are you patiently waiting for and how can you prepare yourself for it in the meantime? Make a list to pray over these circumstances and action steps.
- Bring these circumstances to God as we worship through song. Suggested: I Trust in God.
