3. Whose Side Are You On?
Table purpose statement (Share at the start or before the Discovery section):
This group exists for the purpose of discipleship. A disciple is someone who loves and obeys Jesus. (John 14:15) That means our focus is hearing from God and taking steps of faith. Our goal is to multiply another healthy Table. One day, some of you will lead a group like this!
Table Talk (⅓ of meeting)
- Icebreaker: What is a team, brand, or celebrity that has your allegiance, and why?
- What are you thankful for? What’s stressing you out?
- Where is God at work in your life?
- Pray for the Empty Chair. Place an empty chair in the circle and pray for God to use one of us to fill it with someone who needs to be here next week!
Discussion Guidelines
- Everyone shares in sentences, not paragraphs.
- Focus only on what this passage is saying. (This keeps everyone on the same page)
- Share from your perspective – we won’t argue or give advice.
- Give everyone time to respond. Silence is OK.
- The facilitator will facilitate discussion, not teach.
Discover what God is saying to you. (⅓ of meeting)
Big Idea: Kingdom citizens live different because their King is different.
Ask someone to pray and invite the Holy Spirit for guidance.
Read Philippians 3:12-21.
- What is one word, phrase, or image that immediately stands out to you from this passage?

- What "appetites" (e.g., comfort, control, approval, entertainment) threaten to become a "god" in your life?
- How does the way you react to stressful situations model Christ to others?
- Paul said, “Our conduct reveals our true citizenship.” Name one thing you would like to change in your conduct to better reflect Jesus as your King?
Go do it. (⅓ of meeting)
- What is one step you can take this week to make that change?
- Make an “I will” statement. We will follow up next week.
- How can you model Jesus to someone who doesn’t know Him yet?
- Who can you invite to our Table? Pray for them.
