Table purpose statement (Share at the start or before the Discovery section):

This group exists for the purpose of discipleship. A disciple is someone who loves and obeys Jesus. (John 14:15) That means our focus is hearing from God and taking steps of faith. Our goal is to multiply another healthy Table. One day, some of you will lead a group like this!

Table Talk (⅓ of meeting)

• Icebreaker: It’s prom season. What song could get you to dance in high school?
• High/Low/Buffalo. Share  something from your week that was good, bad, or weird.  
• How is God at work in your life? 
• Spend time in prayer, taking turns completing the sentence, “Thank you God for _____.” Have someone close by asking the Holy Spirit to open our hearts to the scriptures.

Discussion Guidelines

1. Everyone shares in sentences, not paragraphs. 
2. Focus only on what this passage is saying. (This keeps everyone on the same page) 
3. Share from your perspective – we won’t argue or give advice. 
4. Give everyone time to respond. Silence is OK. 
5. The facilitator will facilitate discussion, not teach.

Discover what God is saying to you. (⅓ of meeting) 

Big idea: Every disciple actively seeks out those who do not know Jesus.

Read Luke 9:1-6

• What’s a word, phrase, or verse that stands out to you? 
• Traveling light forced the disciples to depend on God and the people they were trying to reach. Why is that kind of dependency challenging? 
• God gives us His power and authority and expects us to use it. Share the God-given gifts and abilities you see in each other.  
• What are you doing (or what could you be doing) to use these gifts? 
• In what ways do you struggle with the idea of God using you?

Go do it. (⅓ of meeting)

• Sometimes we overcomplicate how to take the next step in sharing the love of Jesus. What are you going to do this week to put what you’ve discovered into practice?  (Everyone creates an “I will” statement.)
• The people the disciples were serving were also serving them! Plan a day to serve a need. Who can you invite to serve with you? Make a list of those names. 
• Pray over the names we just listed.
