Table Group Guide
Easter
It Is Finished
Table purpose statement (Share at the start or before the Discovery section):
This group exists for the purpose of discipleship. A disciple is someone who loves and obeys Jesus. (John 14:15) That means our focus is hearing from God and taking steps of faith. Our goal is to multiply another healthy Table. One day, some of you will lead a group like this!
Table Talk (⅓ of meeting)
- Icebreaker: What are you allergic to? What’s annoying about that to you?
- What are you thankful for? What’s a challenge you’re facing?
- How did God speak to you through Easter and Holy Week?
- Pray for those who heard the Good News of Jesus on Easter to become connected to Him. Then, ask for our hearts to be open to God’s Word as we read Scripture.
Discussion Guidelines
- Everyone shares in sentences, not paragraphs.
- Focus only on what this passage is saying. (This keeps everyone on the same page)
- Share from your perspective – we won’t argue or give advice.
- Give everyone time to respond. Silence is OK.
- The facilitator will facilitate discussion, not teach.
Discover what God is saying to you. (⅓ of meeting)
Read John 20:1-18
- Have someone reshare this in their own words.
- What stands out to you?
- Read the passage one more time. (This helps us see things we didn’t always see before)
- What do we learn about God from this passage?
- What does this Scripture say about people?
Go do it. (⅓ of meeting)
- According to this study, where do you need to change?
- What’s a simple way you can live out this passage in the next few days? (Everyone creates an “I will” statement.)
- Who are you going to tell about what you discovered?
- Who can you invite to our Table? Pray for them.
