Get Ready to Prayer Walk!
Join a prayer walk near your, or host your own! Your prayer walk can be with family and friends, or you can host a public walk that is open to others!
Collaborate with others in your area by hosting a Prayer Walk that others can find through The Table Church App. Pro-tip for hosts: make it a party by having pizza or dessert after the walk as you debrief how it went!
You can walk with a buddy, your family, or your Table. You can also use the Table Church app to find others praying in your region to join the action and make new friends!
Whether you went solo or with others, use the Table Church App to count your walk so we can celebrate how God is at work.

How to Prayer Walk
1. Choose a Place
It can be around the track at a local school, a walk around your workplace building, a trail near your vacation spot, or your neighborhood.
2. Prepare
-
Get informed about the area where you will be prayer walking. Research some of its history and ongoing problems so you can pray for breakthrough.
For neighborhoods: blesseveryhome.com or the BLESS App.
-
Spend time in worship, if possible, before leaving. Read a Bible passage that connects you with God’s heart for the lost and the least. Pray to be guided by the Spirit and ask God to give you His heart for this place.
Suggested passages: Ezekiel 37:1-14; Isaiah 61:1-3; Matthew 5:13-16, 28; Luke 10:1-12; 15:1-7; 19:1-10; 40-44, Acts 1:4-8
-
Spend time in prayer, listening for any words or pictures that might direct your prayer – these can work like Holy Spirit “scavenger hunting” clues.
- Break up into pairs and go in different directions. Set a time to reconvene. (30 minutes is plenty of time)
3. Prayer Walk (or drive)
- Pray audibly as you are led but talk normally as though you are having a conversation.
- Listen as much as you talk. Let the Spirit reveal what God is up to here.
- Pray blessings “in” and spiritual opposition “out.”
- Get specific and pray for people and situations, especially “People of Peace” who God has brought into your life that are opening up opportunities for the Gospel in your community.
-
Greet those that you see and be available to talk – don’t feel pressured to pray for them unless there is an obvious opening to do so. Maybe a new relationship will form!
4. Debrief
- Talk with your group or journal about what you sensed or heard on the walk. What might God be doing or inviting us into? What action might God be prompting to bring His kingdom to this place?
- Make “I will” statements and action steps.
- Make sure to Count your walk through the Prayer Walk tab on the Table Church App. You can upload a picture of the walk as we encourage our church family towards our goal!
FAQs
What is a prayer walk?
Whether it’s a 30 minute solo walk on a lunch break or hosting a group to cover your neighborhood, a prayer walk (or drive/ride) is a time to invite God’s presence and guidance with every step as you pray over people, places, and needs.
Why do we prayer walk?
Prayer walking moves us out of our church buildings and group meetings, forcing us to resist the temptation to stay inward-focused and stirring us to keep Jesus’ mission for the lost front and center. As the Body of Christ, we are sent to specific places and people. As we make ourselves available to God, the Holy Spirit reveals how God is already at work so that we may join Him.
How do I participate in a prayer walk?
You can search for a prayer walk to join in your area, or start your own! Prayer walks can be families on a walk after dinner, coworkers walking at lunch, neighbors walking their dogs, or you can open your walk for others in the Table Church community to join!
When you’re finished, be sure to record your walk at table.org/prayerwalk
What if I am unable to walk?
A prayer walk doesn’t have to be a walk! You can pray while driving, biking, or any form of transportation through a community.
How long will the Table be hosting prayer walks?
You can have a prayer walk at any time on any day! However, the Table Church will be recording all walks that occur until September 15, 2025.
