21 Days of Prayer and Fasting

What could happen if we pray for nothing more than more of God?

21 Days of Prayer is a three week journey of fasting and prayer. It is designed to help you deliberately pursue God as we start 2026 and seek His guidance, direction, and power.

“Man shall not live on bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God,” -Matthew 4:4

Be a Part of the Journey

Every journey has a starting point and key events along the way, and this 21 Day prayer journey is no different! Opportunities to join in are abundant, and we encourage you to make room for God as you start the new year by engaging in as many of these as you can. You and the people around you will be different because of it!

We encourage you to participate in the following ways:

  • Daily Time with God
  • Daily Video Messages
  • Weekly Table Group
  • Fasting

Daily Time with God

Start the day by aligning your heart with God’s heart. Every morning is a fresh start, and getting close to God is the key. Even if you have never prayed before, know that God is ready to hear from you and work in new ways in your life. We encourage you to read God’s Word each day. As you read, open yourself up to what God wants.

• Try to find a regular time and place every day to read the Bible and hear from God.

• Get a version of the Bible you can understand. We have copies of the NIV (New International Version) at the church. If you don’t have one, feel free to take one next weekend at worship. You can also read online at YouVersion.com or download the Bible app.

At The Table, we teach the DBS (Discovery Bible Study) method because it helps focus on not just what to know, but what to do about it. DBS is one model for reading Scripture and applying it to our daily lives. God is speaking to us through His Word, and this is one way to “hear from God.” This is how it works:

1. PRAY – Before you read Scripture, ask the Holy Spirit to open your heart so that you can hear what God is saying. It can be as simple as “Lord, show me what You want me to understand.” Reading Scripture is not just an intellectual exercise – we want the Holy Spirit to be our teacher.

2. TEXT SAYS – Rewrite the passage in your own words – there’s no wrong way to do it! This process can help internalize the Scripture as well as prepare you for sharing the Scripture in spiritual conversation with someone else.

3. TEXT MEANS – Here you answer a few basic questions about what is speaking to you. What feels significant for you? What does this passage teach you about God and people?

4. I WILL – If God is speaking to you, then what will you do about it? Make an actionable statement starting with the words “I will…”

5. SHARE – Write down someone with whom you can share what you have learned. Not only do we retain information when we share with someone else, but God may place someone in your mind from a place where you live, work, learn, or play.

Fasting

The goal of fasting is to draw nearer to God. Biblical fasting always has to do with eliminating distractions for a spiritual purpose; it hits the reset button of our soul and renews us from the inside out. It also enables us to celebrate the goodness and mercy of God and prepares our hearts for all the good things God desires to bring into our lives.

It’s always a great idea to fast with others! Spend time sharing in your table group about what type of commitment to fasting God is prompting you to make.
